Criminology Counselling Skills Collaborative Program Development

November 21, 2005

The Women’s Issue Branch and Minister Blaney’s office have recently been approached by the project applicants, Positive Heart Living Inc., to support the above-noted project proposal being submitted for your consideration.

The concept of providing training and tools to professionals who work with youth potentially at risk is of great interest in the mandated work of the branch. The project proponents have identified the community college system as a preferred delivery site for the training. The Women’s Issue Branch has agreed to work collaboratively with the organization and with relevant government departments in assessing the feasibility of using community colleges as well as possibly assisting in identifying alternative approaches if necessary.

We look forward to working with Positive Heart Living Inc. in moving this concept forward.

To Whom it may Concern:

The Fredericton Community Crime Prevention Council is pleased to offer it’s support to the Criminology Counseling and Skills Program Initiative.

As a crime prevention council, we support initiatives, which will build the assets of a safe, healthy and prosperous community. This initiative has the potential to offer a program, which will provide proper counseling certification to professionals currently working with at-risk youth in an effort to prevent recidivism and school drop out. We realize that programs, which enhance the skills of front-line workers meeting the needs of the at-risk youth population is a good investment in our community.

In that regard, we are pleased to lend our support to the Criminology Counseling and Skills Program.

Sincerely,

To Whom it may Concern:

Addiction Services is pleased to be able to support the Criminology Counseling and Skills Program Initiative.

The community needs to be able to have the capacity to make it a healthier safe place to live. All of us need to work in partnership to help improve the quality of life for all citizens. Increasing capacities for those working with at risk populations such as youth certainly carries our endorsement.

This initiative can be beneficial not only to counselors, professionals, clients, but the community as a whole.

Sincerely,

Gordon Skead
